I remember, way back when I was still in high school, I’ve always wanted to visit Taiwan. All because of this huge fan girl crush to a Taiwanese actor named Wu Chun. Embarrassing as it sounds, that’s all I really knew about the country. Little did I know that it’s gonna be one of the best trips I’ll ever have!

1. VISIT TAIPEI 101

Taipei 101 Taipei 101

Taipei 101 is one of the most popular landmarks in Taiwan and was once the tallest building in the world from the year 2004 to 2009. One of the most fascinating things about it is their extra fast elevators that run at a speed of 1010m/min. It took us just about 40 seconds to reach 89th floor from ground level. The skyscraper features an indoor observatory deck on the 89th floor, where you get to see a 360 degree-view of Taipei and an outdoor observatory deck on the 91st floor.

2. BE ENTERTAINED AT XIMENDING

Ximending Ximending

Ximeding is a one-stop shop. They have shopping outlets, street food carts, unique restaurants, fast-food chains, milk tea stores, clubs, and pubs. You name it, they have it! We even saw a handful of tattoo shops in the area. Talk about shopping and food trip in one!

3. UNLIMITED SHOE SHOPPING

Taipei Shopping

Branded shoes in Taipei are relatively cheaper compared to other markets. It is also a good place to find limited edition sneakers.

4. EXPERIENCE UNIQUE DINING AT MODERN TOILET

The name speaks for itself. The interior was made to look and feel like you just stepped into a huge toilet room. Walls are covered with bathroom tiles. Instead of regular chairs, they use toilets as dining chairs. Even the food and drinks are served in miniature toilets.  How fun is that?

ADDRESS: Ximending, 2F No. 7, Lane 50, Xining S. Rd.

5. EAT DESSERT AT HELLO KITTY SWEETS CAFE AND DINING

Who doesn’t love Hello Kitty? She’s too cute and charming! If you happen to be a fan just like me, you would want to check this out. Everything in this restaurant has a Hello Kitty touch on it. Food were too cute that I had a hard time eating it.

ADDRESS: No. 90, Section 1, Da’an Rd.

6. GET SOME SUSHI FIX

Sushi Takeout Taipei Sushi

Taipei had me at “sushi.” You can either buy from the supermarket or from Sushi Take-out branches. They were surprisingly huge and delicious! I just have to warn you, it can be really hard to choose from the vast variety of sushi and sashimi. Everything looks delicious!

I must admit, I never thought I’d enjoy Taipei this much. But as a foodie and shopaholic, I knew I was gonna enjoy this trip the moment I stepped out of the plane!
